Greetings Connecticut FLL Teams:

Welcome to the 2008 FLL season, Connecticut will host FIVE Qualifying Tournaments on the road to the State Championship.

CT-FLL Qualifying Tournaments

LEGO Qualifying Event – Saturday, November 22, 2008 – Enfield CT

FLL Bash@theBeach – Saturday, November 22, 2008 – Old Lyme CT

Vernon Qualifying Event – Saturday Novemebr 22, 2008 – To be determined

Ragged Mountain Invitational - Saturday December 6, 2008 - Berlin CT

Bridgeport Qualifying Event – Saturday, December 6, 2008 – Bridgeport CT

These five CT-FLL Qualifying Tournaments were created to guarantee every team the opportunity to compete in at least one official FIRST LEGO League event.  At these qualifying events, teams can expect to compete in a minimum of 4 robot rounds, but could see as many as 8.  Also, teams will receive feedback on their Project Presentations to better prepare them for the CT-FLL State Championship.  The top CT team, not already qualified for the CT-FLL State Championship, in each of the following five areas will earn a right to compete in the CT-FLL State Championship:

·        Champion’s Award – The most prestigious award that any team can win.  This award celebrates the ultimate success of the FIRST mission and FLL Values.

·        Robot Design Award – Awarded to the team with a robot based on any or all of the following elements: innovative design, robust design, and programming.

·        Teamwork Award – Presented to the team that best demonstrates extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit, exceptional partnership, the utmost respect to their own teammates, and support and encouragement of fellow teams.

·        Project Award – Presented to the team whose quality research and innovative solutions and creative presentation best reflect an in-depth understanding of the various scientific disciplines and issues involved with the Challenge Project.

·        Robot Performance Award – Presented to the team whose robot achieved the best score on the competition field.

There are also 25 teams that will be chosen randomly at the CT-FLL Qualifying events to participate at the CT-FLL State Championships.  The number of random qualifications at each tournament will be determined by a ratio of the number of teams at the specific tournament in proportion to the total number of teams.

Thanks for your participation in the CT-FLL Program.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Matt Starkey, Local CT-FLL Tournaments Coordinator at Matt Starkey or call (860) 665-4565, or contact the individual Tournament Coordinators (contact info can be found at www.LocalCT-FLL.org).
